Grammy Nominee Bebe Rexha Says Designers Won’t Dress Her Because She’s “Too Large”

Bebe Rexha has made a splash with her hit song, “I’m a Mess,” and has landed a nomination for the 2019 Grammy Awards. Including being nominated for Best New Artist, she also received a nod for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Just like any other award show, the Grammy’s are known for fabulous fashion, over the top performances and great fun. So it came as a disturbing surprise when Rexha went to social media to tell fans that she would be ordering her outfit online, since designers didn’t want to dress her size 6-8 figure.

“So I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it’s like the coolest thing ever,” Rexha says in an Instagram video. “And a lot of times artists will go and talk to designers and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet. So I had my team hit out a lot of designers and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big.”

This isn’t the first time a star has come forward with the same complaint this year. Megan Mullally hosted the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, and revealed that designers turned down requests to design her dress also because of her size.

“You’re saying all the women in the world that are a size 8 and up are not beautiful and that they cannot wear your dresses,” Rexha continued. “So to all the people who said I’m thick and I can’t wear your dress, f—k you, I don’t want to wear your f—g dresses.”

A few designers responded to the video offering to design a gown for Rexha, so we can only hope that she gets the beautiful dress she deserves!
