While everyone seems to be going crazy over Popeye’s new fried chicken sandwich and the return of Wendy’s spicy nuggets, KFC has its own big food launch. The chicken fast-food chain announced that it will begin testing plant-based nuggets.

The test will be taking place at KFC’s Smyrna, Georgia location and will have the restaurant offering “Beyond Fried Chicken.” Making KFC the first nationwide fast-food restaurant to test Beyond Meat’s plant-based chicken. The plant-based company already offers burgers, ground beef and sausage alternatives.

For now, KFC has stated that the Beyond Meat test will remain limited to one store for a short time. However, other restaurants that have tested plant-based meat alternative products have ultimately expanded their availability. Like, Burger King who recently made its plant-based Impossible Whoppers available across the United States after testing in St. Louis.

Similarly, Restaurant Brands’ Tim Hortons started offering Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches as a small test and expanded them across Canada. Dunkin’ is also testing Beyond Meat sausage and egg sandwiches in New York, and announced in July that it plans to bring plant-based sandwiches to every American store in the near future.
