Last Minute New Year’s Getaways

Bella Breakdown

It’s not too late to plan a last minute trip to ring in the New Year. Whether you’re looking for a cozy getaway with your partner, or want to party it up with the girls, there’s a destination that’s right for you. So forget Times Square – trust me, you don’t even need to do it once – and opt for something a little more unique this year.

Zion National Park
This year, REI is hosting a six-day New Year’s adventure in Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Celebrating Utah’s soaring vistas, hiking the rustic trails and snowshoeing your way through the New Year is the perfect way to ring in 2019. If you’re lucky enough to score tickets to this exclusive retreat, you’ll enjoy an incredible 5-night getaway. But you can also plan your own adventure, and use the REI itinerary as a guide for your travels.

The Kingdom of Tonga
It might take you a couple of days to get here, but Tonga and its surrounding islands are magical. Plus, it’s the very first country in the world to welcome in the New Year. Celebrate before everyone else, and then bask in the glorious beauty of the south pacific. If you’re looking for more of a city vibe, stop over in Sydney, Australia, a close hop, before or after your island retreat.

Whitetail Resort, Pennsylvania

Whether you’re in it for the skiing or the relaxing ski lodge retreat, Whitetail Resort has something for everyone. On New Year’s, enjoy a ball drop, celebrations and skiing until 1 a.m. That’s what I call a party!

Alaska Railroad’s Aurora Winter Train
This is the Polar Express come to life. Make the trip out to Fairbanks, Alaska, where you will board the Aurora Winter Train and get incredible views of the northern lights during your 12 hour trip to Anchorage. On New Years, you’ll receive a champagne toast and a magical celebration.
