5 Tips For Spring Cleaning

Bella Breakdown

Spring is in the air! The birds are singing, the snow is melting, and your place probably looked like you’ve been hibernating in it for three months straight. You know what that means: It’s time to do some spring cleaning. Spring cleaning has a big reputation, and it can seem very daunting. However, it doesn’t have to be an endless, painful task if you follow the following advice.

1. Buy your cleaning supplies beforehand. If you get midway through cleaning, only to realize you are missing a toilet brush, then going to the store is going to interrupt your cleaning flow. Get everything before you even start so you don’t have to worry about cutting into your time cleaning.

2. Ditch the clothes that don’t give you joy, in the words of Marie Kondo. You should go through your closet and lay out all of your clothes. The ones that do not speak to you or make you feel happy, take right on down to Good Will.

3. If you haven’t used an item in the past year, it’s time to say “bye-bye”. Yes, you love your incense holder because it makes you feel like you live in a spa, but when was the last time you actually put some incense in there? Toss it!

4. Work in sections and give yourself little rewards. Once you have completed a big task, like cleaning out your storage space, reward yourself with some down time, like a 30 minute show or a snack. These rewards will help motivate you to get things done and relax you in between work periods.

5. Pump up the jams! Nothing gets me cleaning like blaring loud music in my apartment. If you are not someone who derives joy from cleaning and you want to feel some sort of hope that soon this will all be over, then put on your favorite playlist and wash your windows to the music.
