Kanye West is busy making headlines surrounding the announcement of the rapper entering the 2020 presidential race, especially after his first campaign rally just days ago. Shortly after the rally, West went on a Twitter rant against the Kardashian family including his wife, Kim Kardashian West.

West got emotional talking about his daughter, North West, that made KKW furious as the couple agreed that they wouldn’t involve their family in his presidential campaign. West claimed that KKW hired a doctor to fly out to the rally location in Wyoming to “lock me up” as West stated in the now-deleted tweets.

This apparently triggered the Twitter rant against the Kardashian family and KKW has been silent on social media, but today she broke her silence over the incident. On KKW’s Instagram, she posted a story addressing her husband’s mental issues and wishing that people respect their privacy in this matter.

“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder… I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions.”

KKW goes onto share how “complicated and painful” it is to understand a loved one that suffers from mental illness. She also addresses the reasons behind not disclosing more of her personal life to the public because of the misconceptions and stigmas attached to mental health.

KKW says that the family of people with mental illness doesn’t have much power unless the family member is a minor and that she does her best to support her husband. She goes onto say her husband is a “brilliant but complicated person” who faces the pressures of being an artist, a black man, and the loss of his mother.

KKW defends her husband saying he has a good heart but his words don’t reflect his intentions. She ends her statement asking the media and public to grant the couple empathy and compassion while getting through this time.
