Spring Sprucing Tips You’ll Be Happy to Use

Spring is a time of renewal and fresh starts – including for our homes.Ā  After the dark days of winter, it feels good to get a fresh clean-up of everything in our homes.Ā  However, we are busy moms, so we have to prioritize what is really important.

Firstly, don’t save this tedious chore just for spring. By keeping up with the major chores in your house throughout the rest of the year, you will make “spring” cleaning much more manageable. After all, busy moms need any way they can to save time!

springcleaningIt has been shown that clutter increases stress. Each season, you should make a pile of things to either consign or donate. Going through your children’s clothes seasonally prevents a build-up of too-small clothes at the bottom of the drawer.Ā  We have all had a situation where the drawers are so full that you can’t close them. Drop off your gently used items at a consignment store or find a consignment event near you. These events are usually quite large and require you to tag your own items, but it is a great way to make money off of your used clothes, toys and other items.

Get outdoor toys ready for action. Clean out sandboxes, bikes, sweep off trampolines and jungle gyms.Ā  Meanwhile, put away all of your winter toys and equipment such as sleds, skis, and ice skates.Ā  This is a good time to add anything to your ā€œtossā€ pile that you might want to get rid of.

Change over bedding from winter to summer.Ā  If you live in a cold climate, and pull out heavier blankets for winter time, now is the time to wash everything and put it away, and to take out the lighter bedding.Ā  Washing it all now and storing it neatly will make your life easier when you have to switch it back in the late fall.

While the thought of cleaning your home might seem daunting (it sure does to me), tackle one project or room in your house at a time. Begin with the area that needs the most help or is the most bothersome to you.

Although it is hard work, think of this as an opportunity to make a cleaner, healthier, less chaotic start to the new season.Ā  You will be happy you did!
