Tips for Making Family Travel a Breeze!

Once you have children, gone are the days of wild, party-filled spring break trips.Ā  Whether you are going somewhere warm or cold, it is always good to have a plan when it comes to traveling with your children for spring break.Ā  That way, once you reach your destination you can truly relax and enjoy yourself.

Firstly, be realistic about your budget, as well as how far you should travel given the ages of your children.Ā  Make a reasonable budget for yourselves and stick to it.Ā  There are lots of places you can go simply by driving a few hours.Ā  This might be a better option for a family with very small children.Ā  You need to think realistically about how relaxing flying and sleeping in a hotel with small children will be for you. Ā Another option to make sure you stick to a budget is to choose an all-inclusive resort.Ā  This way, you don’t feel like you are constantly shelling out money for the next meal or activity.

Try and keep your kids on a general routine as much as possible.Ā  Of course, it is vacation, so waking at the crack of dawn is not on the agenda.Ā  However, you will be thankful when you get home and your kids are able to go to bed on time.Ā  Plus, keeping them well-rested and fed will make for a more pleasant experience all around.

If possible, make sure you and your spouse have at least one night out alone.Ā  Remember that your relationship is the heart of your family.Ā  Most hotels (especially those that cater to families) have trusted baby-sitters on staff.Ā  Take advantage to nurture your relationship—this is after all, what vacations are for!

The final tip (and one of the most important) is to never post your upcoming travel plans on social media .Ā  This is a sure-fire way for thieves to target your home while you are gone.Ā  Nothing would ruin your post-vacation bliss like coming home to your home being vandalized.

Enjoy this special time to make memories with your family.Ā  Try and turn off the turbo mode you are typically on (as all of us busy parents are) and relax!Ā  Happy travels!
