Equinox and SoulCycle may be facing a boycott after Stephen Ross, who owns both companies is under fire for plans to host a high-dollar Trump fundraiser. After news of Ross’ affiliation was made public customers wasted no time canceling their memberships.

The fundraiser is scheduled for Aug. 9 in Southampton, New York, with top tickets selling for $250,000, which includes a meeting with the president. However, the LGBTQ community isn’t too happy with his plans and as popular as Equinox and SoulCycle are within the community and are making their voices heard.

Equinox itself touts its “clubs” as LGBTQ-friendly and has a significant presence in LGBTQ pride parades around the country. In a post on Instagram, Equinox acknowledged that “many members raised their concerns about a political fundraiser taking place later this week.”

“We want to let you know that Equinox and SoulCycle have nothing to do with the event and do not support it,” Equinox wrote, claiming that “no company profits are used to fund politicians.”

However, seeing as how Ross owns the companies that statement isn’t 100% true and actor Wilson Cruz has already created a petition. “If this fundraiser indeed does take place we will be looking for another gym to give our money to and we will be calling on our networks of LGBTQ and POC friends to do the same,” Cruz wrote.
