Tulum, Mexico: An Insta-Worthy Vacay

Bella Breakdown

Tulum, Mexico is the new celebrity travel hot spot. In the past, when I have thought of Mexico, I am immediately turned off by the towering high rises that muddle the beaches of Cancun, or the all inclusive resorts that keep you away from the reality that is Mexico. For many years, I never wanted to travel to Mexico because my experiences of the past told me there was nothing there for me.

Then, I experienced Tulum. Imagine, if you will, pristine beaches, restaurants with blue seaglass and refurbished white wood, treehouse cocktail clubs where you can view the sunset, old mayan ruins, and mysterious cave explorations. Tulum has it all.

By day, you can spend your time relaxing at one of the many picturesque beach resorts or exploring one of the cultural, historical, or natural sights. If you choose to lie low, head to the main strip, close your eyes, spin around, and let your finger land on one of the many fabulous beachside resorts.

No matter where you choose to spend your time, get ready to soak in the sun on one of Tulum’s exquisite, pillowy lounge chairs. I recommend Be Tulum or Coco Tulum, for their heavenly vibes. If you are looking for a more adventurous day, go check out the Mayan ruins or go cave exploring. I headed to Cenotes Casa Tortuga, where I got the opportunity to swim through and explore five different caves. It was gorgeous and an incredible amount of fun. If you decide to go to the cenotes, watch out for the bats!

Once the sun begins to set, make your way back to the beach in order to catch the sunset and a cocktail at one of the many restaurants. My favorite was Kin Toh, a funky, ecotourism lodge that is basically a ginormous treehouse. Once you finish getting your fill of drink and beauty, zoom down the strip and you will surely stumble upon a fiesta on the beach. Know that wherever you end up in Tulum, you will be taking an obnoxious amount of pictures for your ‘Gram.
