Online dating can be daunting, especially with the potential of being catfished. Here are a couple of red flags to look out for signs of possibly being catfished.

Over-The-Top Personality
A majority of catfish like to embellish the truth on their photos and can go as far as to fake having a lavish lifestyle. Catfish also use this as another tactic of taking advantage of people and luring people in.

They Only Have Professional Photos
One of the biggest red flags is that they only have professional photos. You can do a reverse image search to see where the image is featured on other websites or used as stock images.

Asking For Money
Some catfish take advantage of people financially, asking for gifts or money. Though this seems like a basic rule of avoiding catfish, people can be very persuasive and take advantage of vulnerable people.

They’re Reluctant To Video Chat
Most catfish are reluctant and hesitant to video chat or meet in real life. Another catfish tactic is to make up exaggerated excuses for why they can’t video chat saying they have a broken camera or too busy.

Remember to stay safe and use your best judgment when dating online and remember to look for these red flags to detect a possible catfish.
