What to do While You’re Waiting!

If you are like me, you have to drop off and pick your kids up every day for school. I can’t imagine how many hours I sit in car line waiting for my kids to be dismissed from school.

We've all pulled one of these when we arrive to pickup our kids from school only to be met with a mile long line of cars! So here's a list of things you can do to maximize your time spent waiting for the little ones.

The time spent is completely worth it because I relish that special time I get to be with my kids chatting about their day. However, I have learned quickly that I need to make my time sitting and waiting productive. Here are some ways you can do the same!

Organizing

thewaitinggame2 Whether it be going through a pile of mail or notices from school, I can pick up a pile of whatever I need to be going through and a plastic grocery bag for the trash. I can sort through everything that I normally would not get too if I were at home.

Read

thewaitinggame3 Read a book that you have been wanting to. “WHAT?!” you say. Yes, you read this correctly. As a parent, you dedicate the majority of your time to your family. Take 15 minutes each day to read a chapter and do something special for yourself. I absolutely love reading but as a mother of three, I don’t get that much time to do it. It is something that will relax you and make you feel great!

Pay bills

thewaitinggame4 Whether you do this the “old-fashioned” way with checks in the mail or online banking, this is a great time to get one of those tedious chores done.

Make appointments

thewaitinggame5 Take this time to call your dentist, make a physical appointment, call the plumber to have that leaky faucet fixed that you never get around to doing, or any of the other things you have been meaning to get done but can’t seem to find the time.

Connect with someone

Send a sweet text to your spouse or best friend. Think of how much you would appreciate them doing the same for you. Write a thank-you note or any other correspondence you have gotten behind on.

Think of this time sitting in car line as “found time”. You have to be there anyway so why not make the best of it!
