This past weekend, people flocked to theaters to see the new horror movie “Us” by Jordan Peele. “Us” surprised many by getting 70 million its first weekend at the box office, meaning that it is the second highest grossing film of 2019 behind Captain Marvel.

Peele is demonstrating to all that he is a writer, director, and producer to be reckoned with, as this is his second success after his 2017 award winner “Get Out.”

“Us” is a story about Adelaide Wilson and her family, who return to Adelaide’s childhood beach house. As Adelaide continues to be reminded of her past, she grows increasingly weary that something terrible is coming for her family in the future.

One night, after going to the beach with friends, the family returns to their house to see four figures standing in their driveway. The four figures turn out to be doppelgängers of each family member. Chaos and terror ensue, as each member is forced to face their likeness.

If you are a fan of horror films that go deeper than just giving you a good jump in your seat, then you should go and check out “Us.” Peele expands beyond the stereotypical genre as he expands his artistic creativity in ways viewers have never seen before. New York Times Critic Richard Brody said that “‘Us’ is nothing short of a colossal achievement.”
