Buying a new home can be such an exciting experience, but also as stressful one. It’s often a lengthy process and it does cost a lot of money. That’s why it pays to be as prepared as possible. Who would you trust more than Chip Gaines to give you advice on buying a home? The Fixer Upper star alongside his wife and costar Joanna, knows what to look for in a new home. After all, he’s spent nearly ten years doing it on live TV for a living! These are the top three things, according to Chip, that you should consider before buying a home….and they are so smart!
1. The condition of the roof: How old is the roof? What kind of shape is it in? These simple questions could save you a lot of money in the long run, and help you from paying for repairs after closing the deal.
2. Check the plumbing: Make sure you check the age of the water heater, the type of piping the home has and when it was installed.
3. Electrical conditions: If the home is older than 30 years of age, get an electrician to come in and check the wiring. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
