“Think good things, speak kind words, and do good things,” this is the mantra 11-year-old Tabay Atkins imparts on his yoga class. You read correct he has his own yoga class and is the youngest certified yoga instructor in the U.S.
He found inspiration in his passion for yoga from his mother, who took yoga to cope with her cancer diagnosis. Atkins saw that yoga helped to heal his mother when she was going through treatments for cancer, so she thought if yoga can help her mom that other people could benefit too.
Atkins says that through helping his yoga students, he helps himself through the healing effects of yoga on the mind, body, and soul. His classes are donation-based, with 100% of the donations going to charities for children with cancer.
“I want to change the world and help heal more people,” Atkins says. His goal with spreading awareness for yoga is to make the world a better place through the teachings of yoga.
