How People Are Traveling On A Budget

Bella Breakdown

Many people are making it a point to travel, even when they’re on a tight budget. They harbor tricks of the trade to stretch their dollar as much as possible while they explore what the world has to offer. We can’t help but wonder, “how!?”.

There are a number of ways to travel while you’re living on a limited income. The best way is to save, don’t spend. What I mean by this is to allow yourself some time to save up some of your hard earned money to put towards your trip. While at all costs, avoid maxing out your credit card and spending money that you don’t have. If you do feel comfortable using a credit card, use one that gives you travel miles. This way, you can save on your flight which is typically one of the most expensive parts of your trip.

If you schedule allows it, plan your trip during “dead week”. This is the period of time between New Year’s Day and Martin Luther King Day. Travel agents refer to this week as dead week because no one is traveling; which also means that flights, hotels, & transportation are at an all time low. Take advantage!

More tips to save a dollar include booking newer hotels which generally offer awesome introductory rates. It’s also a great idea to use discount websites such as Groupon.com, Kayak.com, or HotWire.com that tend to have a lot of deals.

Another way to save is to book package deals for your hotel and flights, though this is rare with travel companies. Websites like TravelByJen.com and VacationExpress.com offer packages deals that are a great price with easy travel to South American and the Caribbean. Groupon commonly uses these websites for their package travel deals to almost every country imaginable.
