Where You Should Travel This Year If You’re A Foodie

Bella Breakdown

When I travel, I like to plan out all the places I want to eat, and basically consume my weight in the area’s best food and cultural delicacies. Food is one of the best ways to experience a new place or culture, so if you’re a major foodie, and want to plan your next vacation around a culinary adventure, you should plan to explore one of these top destinations.

Umbria, Italy

Let’s be honest, any place in Italy is going to have amazing food, but Umbria is particularly known for it’s quintessential local cuisine. Located on the border of Tuscany, this area is especially known for its wild truffles and wine. The food here is rustic and simple, with lots of meat, fresh pasta and local produce. Take a walking tour of the local markets, go on a truffle hunt or take a cooking class to learn how to make your own pasta!

Bangkok, Thailand

This may not be the first place you think of for foodies, but Bangkok is filled with exotic sights and smells. Here you’ll find some of the best street food around, and with dozens of open markets, including the infamous night markets, you can pretty much find any type of food you could ever want here. Street food is notoriously cheap, so once you’ve had your fill of that, splurge on a meal at one of the many Michelin starred restaurants in the city.

New Orleans, Louisiana

If you’re looking for a domestic getaway, New Orleans is a mecca for food. Of course, you can find the local delicacies like gumbo and crawfish, but with a variety of cultures present, you can pretty much find any type of cuisine. Take a stroll through the cobble stone streets, and see what sort of delicious bites you can find! There are also a variety of food tours and cooking classes available for tourists.
