Bath bombs are great for relaxing in the bath but some prefer to relax with a nice hot shower. Now there’s an option for showers with DIY fizzing shower steamers for some relaxing aromatherapy.

To start you’ll need:
– 1 cup Baking Soda
– 1/3 cup Citric Acid
– 1/4 cup Cornstarch
– 10 grams Menthol Crystals
– Essential Oils (60 drops per batch)
– Silicone Molds
– Witch Hazel or 91% Alcohol (in a spray bottle)
– Mica Powder (optional for color)
– Dry Rice (optional for drying stage)

These materials are needed for the steamers and the best part is you can make your own fragrance for the steamer. Using a fizzing shower steamer is the best for when your sick, helping to clear your lungs and sinuses. Using menthol crystals help to intensify the scent of the essential oils to release into the air during use.

Instructions:
1. Dissolve menthol crystals, placing the crystals in a cup with the essential oils (if you don’t want to use essential oils you can replace the oils with rubbing alcohol.

2. Combine the baking soda, corn starch, and citric acid in a large bowl.

3. Mix in essential oils with dissolved menthol crystals starting with a whisk and finishing mixing by hand (it’s important to mix ingredients thoroughly).

4. Add mica powder as desired for color.

5. When the mixture reaches a consistency of damp sand and test by squeezing the mix in your palm, if it crumbles spray some witch hazel/alcohol and mix then test again by squeezing in the palm.

6. Pack the mixture tightly in the silicone mold for one minute, then remove from the mold to dry overnight (make sure to leave them in a dry area). It’s recommended to place dry rice around the steamers while drying to protect from additional moisture.

7. Smell the steamers while they’re drying to see if they hold their fragrance, to compensate for the loss of fragrance you can add a couple of drops of essential oil (preferably on the bottom where it can’t be seen).

8. Once they’re fully formed and harden, store them in an airtight container to keep them dry.

9. Pop in the shower and enjoy!
