The main reason people want to lose weight on their stomachs is to look good. We all know six-pack abs look better than a keg-like stomach.
However, it is imperative for people with stomach fat to know that losing that stomach fat means a lot more than just looking better. Visceral stomach fat is some of the most dangerous fat you can have on your body.
Visceral fat around the abdomen puts people at risk for more serious health issues. Stomach fat can put you at risk for type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, and heart disease.
You don’t need to fret too much about fat around the hips and legs, as that fat is not directly impacting the body. So if you are concerned about your stomach fat, there are some lifestyle changes you can make to rid of it.
You can start small, weaning yourself off of processed foods, high fat foods, greasy foods, sugary foods. These are all foods that not only make you feel bad, but they’re just plain bad for you. These foods sit in all of the wrong places, and are not fueling your body.
Add in fruits, vegetables, high protein, and complex carbohydrates. You don’t have to hit the gym hard right away, but getting at least 30 minutes of cardio, 3 to 4 times a week, is a great way to promote overall body fat loss.
