A Sea Worthy Workout

I have been swimming my entire life, and one of my favorite things to do as a child, along with my friends, was to pretend to be a mermaid. I mean, we were the generation shaped by Disney’s, ‘The Little Mermaid’.

So, it’s understandable. Now, as an adult we can keep living out our dreams with a new fitness trend. Albeit, strange, there are workout classes that allow you to live out your mermaid dreams.

You’ll have to go to Chicago, for now, while the trend makes its way across the country. Aquamermaid Chicago allows you to suit up in fins decorated as an entire mermaid tail. Instructors provide participants with mermaid-based exercises that not only work out your entire body, but boost your underwater skills, help you socialize and work with others, and make you feel pretty dang awesome.

You might roll your eyes at yet another strange fitness trend, but this one is something I know a lot of people would like to try. Most little girls I know dream of turning into a mermaid, so it’s pretty great that for an hour you truly get to feel like one. Plus you don’t have to actually deal with the semantics of having a tail for your lower half. Because, let’s face it, we’ve all wondered how that actually works.
